If you live in the UAE, Qatar is one of the simplest visas you will ever apply for.
Your nationality does not decide whether you qualify. Your **UAE residence** does.
Since 30 November 2025, the visa for GCC residents also lets you stay up to two
months and enter as many times as you like. This guide explains who qualifies, what
it costs, what to upload and how to avoid the mistakes that cause rejections.

**Checked on 14 October 2026** against the Hayya platform and Qatar Tourism’s official
announcement. Sources at the end.

## The short answer

| Question | Answer |
| Visa name | Hayya “GCC Resident Entry” visa (often called Hayya A2) |
| Who can apply | Any nationality living legally in the UAE or another GCC country |
| Where to apply | Online at hayya.qa or the Hayya app — nowhere else |
| Fee | QAR 100 (about AED 100) |
| Stay | Up to 60 days, multiple entry |
| Processing | Usually a few working days; apply at least two weeks before travel |
| UAE nationals | No visa needed — enter with Emirates ID or passport |

## Your passport decides, your residence changes the route

Many nationalities living in their home country need a full Qatar tourist visa,
or must book a hotel through Discover Qatar to enter. As a **UAE resident**, you
skip that. Qatar treats legal residents of any GCC country as a separate group,
and Qatar Tourism’s announcement is clear: “Any resident with a valid residency
permit in a GCC country can apply, provided they meet the visa requirements.”

That means an Indian engineer, a Pakistani driver, a Filipino nurse and a Nigerian
accountant who all live in Dubai use the **same visa, same fee and same process**.
Your passport still matters in two ways:

 * It must be valid for the period Qatar requires (see documents below).
 * Qatar’s security checks are done on your nationality and history, so processing
   time can vary between nationalities.

### Is there a profession rule?

The old Qatar visa on arrival for GCC residents was limited to certain professions.
The Hayya GCC resident visa is not described that way in Qatar’s official announcement,
which says any resident can apply. You still have to **declare your profession**
in the form, and it should match the job title on your UAE residence visa or Emirates
ID. If they do not match, your application can be delayed or refused.

## What changed in November 2025

Qatar upgraded the GCC resident visa on 30 November 2025:

 * **Stay:** up from 30 days to up to two months.
 * **Entries:** multiple entry instead of single entry.
 * **Older visas:** visas approved before the change keep their original 30-day
single-entry terms. Qatar Tourism said holders could cancel and reapply to get
   the new terms.

If you are reading older guides that say “30 days, single entry”, they describe
the pre-November 2025 rules.

## Who qualifies

You can apply if all of these are true:

 * You hold a **valid UAE residence visa** (any emirate) or residence in another
   GCC state.
 * Your residence is valid for the period Qatar requires on the date you arrive.
 * Your passport meets Qatar’s validity rule.
 * You have a confirmed place to stay and a return or onward ticket.
 * You are not banned from entering Qatar.

### Family members

Each family member applies separately, including children, using their own passport
and UAE residence. A wife or child sponsored on the husband’s residence qualifies
in the same way, as long as their own UAE residence is valid.

### Who should not use this visa

 * **UAE visit visa holders** — you are not a resident. Check the visa your passport
   needs on hayya.qa.
 * People who want to **work** in Qatar — this is a tourism and visit visa. Business
meetings are generally fine; employment is not.
 * People whose UAE residence has been **cancelled**, even if the Emirates ID card
   still shows a future date.

## Documents to upload

Hayya asks for clear scans or phone photos. Prepare these before you start:

 * Passport bio page (colour, all four corners visible).
 * UAE residence visa page or e-visa, and Emirates ID front and back.
 * A recent passport-style photo on a plain white background.
 * Return or onward flight booking (or your vehicle details if you drive via Saudi
   Arabia).
 * Hotel booking in Qatar, or the address and Qatar ID details of the friend or
   relative you will stay with.

**Photo tip:** most delays come from the photo. Use a white background, no glasses,
no shadows and no filters. A photo cropped from your Emirates ID is usually rejected.

## How to apply step by step

 1. Go to **hayya.qa** or download the official Hayya to Qatar app. Do not use look-
     alike sites that charge extra.
 2. Create an account with your email and verify it.
 3. Choose to apply for an entry visa and select the **GCC resident** option.
 4. Enter your passport details exactly as printed, including all names.
 5. Enter your UAE residence details: residence file number or Emirates ID number,
     expiry date and profession.
 6. Upload your passport, residence, photo and travel documents.
 7. Add your accommodation details in Qatar.
 8. Pay the QAR 100 fee by card when prompted.
 9. Track your application in the app. Approval comes by email and in the app.
 10. Save the approval as a PDF and print a copy before travelling.

![Phone with a generic visa app checklist on a wooden desk](https://sifqa.com/wp-
content/uploads/2026/10/qatar-visa-hayya-steps-1.webp)

## Fees and total trip cost

| Item | Cost |
| Hayya GCC resident visa | QAR 100 per person |
| Hayya account | Free |
| Return flight Dubai–Doha | Varies by season |
| Car route via Saudi Arabia | Saudi transit visa (if needed), insurance, tolls |

QAR 1 is roughly AED 1, so the visa costs about AED 100 per person. There is no
separate charge from Hayya for processing.

## Processing time and validity

Most GCC resident applications are approved within a few working days. Some nationalities
and incomplete applications take longer. Apply **at least two weeks** before you
book non-refundable flights. During major events in Doha, such as large sporting
tournaments, processing can slow.

Once approved, your visa allows a stay of up to 60 days with multiple entries. Check
the exact validity dates printed on your approval — the stay is counted from your
first entry.

## Driving from the UAE to Qatar

There is no direct land border between the UAE and Qatar. To drive, you cross Saudi
Arabia via Al Ghuwaifat (UAE–Saudi) and Salwa – Abu Samra (Saudi–Qatar). You will
need:

 * A Saudi visa that allows transit, unless you are a GCC citizen. See our [Saudi visa for UAE residents](https://sifqa.com/visas/saudi-visa-for-uae-residents/)
   guide.
 * Your approved Hayya visa.
 * Car insurance valid in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
 * Vehicle registration (Mulkiya) and, for a company or financed car, a letter from
the owner or bank allowing travel.

## Common reasons for rejection or delay

 * **Profession mismatch** between the form and the residence visa.
 * **Photo problems** — background, shadows, glasses, low quality.
 * **Residence too close to expiry.** Renew first, then apply.
 * **Name spelling** different from the passport, especially with long South Asian
   or Filipino names.
 * **Previous overstay or ban** in Qatar or another GCC state.

If you are refused, Hayya does not publish an appeal process. Correct the issue
and submit a new application. If you were refused for security reasons, contact
the Qatar Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Booking flights before approval. The fee is low, but the waiting time is real.
 * Using third-party “Qatar eVisa” websites. The only official channel is Hayya.
 * Assuming your old 30-day approval was upgraded automatically. It was not.
 * Travelling on a residence that will expire during your trip. You may struggle
   to re-enter the UAE.

## What about the GCC “Grand Tours” unified visa?

The GCC has approved a single tourist visa covering all six Gulf states, often called
the Grand Tours visa. As of 14 October 2026 it has **not launched**, no fee has
been published and there is no official application portal. Until it does, UAE residents
must apply for Qatar through Hayya. Ignore any website selling a “GCC unified visa”
today.

## Questions people ask

### Can UAE residents get a Qatar visa on arrival?

The route for UAE residents is the Hayya GCC resident visa, which you apply for
online before travel. Do not rely on getting a visa at Hamad International Airport.

### How much is the Qatar visa for UAE residents?

QAR 100, paid online through Hayya. That is roughly AED 100.

### How long can I stay in Qatar on a GCC resident visa?

Up to 60 days, with multiple entries, for visas issued under the rules in force
since 30 November 2025.

### Does my profession matter for Qatar?

You must declare it, and it should match your UAE residence. Qatar’s official announcement
says any GCC resident can apply, so it is not limited to a professions list like
Oman.

### Can my domestic worker apply?

A domestic worker with a valid UAE residence can apply in the same way. The application
is judged individually, and the sponsor’s details may be requested.

### I hold a UAE golden visa. Is anything different?

No. A golden visa is a UAE residence, so you apply through the same GCC resident
route.

Bahrain is a one-hour flight from Dubai, and for most UAE residents the visa is
cheap and quick. But unlike Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Bahrain still looks at **what
your job title is**. If your UAE residence says “labourer”, the easy route is closed.
This guide explains who qualifies, the visa options and what they cost, and how
to apply on Bahrain’s official portal.

**Checked on 14 October 2026** against Bahrain’s NPRA eVisa portal and published
guidance. Sources at the end.

## The short answer

| Your situation | What you need |
| UAE national | No visa — Emirates ID or passport |
| UAE resident, profession not “labourer”, residence valid 3+ months | GCC resident eVisa online, or visa on arrival |
| UAE resident whose profession is labourer or similar | Not eligible for the GCC resident route — check other eVisa types for your nationality |
| UAE visit visa holder | Not a resident — the visa your passport needs applies |

## Your passport decides, your residence changes the route

If you lived in Mumbai, Karachi or Manila, your passport alone would decide whether
you need a Bahrain visa and which one. As a **UAE resident**, you get access to
a separate category for GCC residents, with a short application and no embassy visit.
Bahrain’s NPRA portal lets you select **“GCC resident”** and the UAE as your country
of residence.

Three things decide eligibility for that category:

 * Your **UAE residence permit** must be valid for at least three more months.
 * Your **profession** must not be classified as labourer (and similar manual categories).
 * Your **passport** must be valid for at least six months.

Bahrain’s portal also restricts some nationalities from certain visa types. Iranian
nationals, for example, are reported as excluded from the GCC resident visa on arrival.
If the portal blocks your nationality, you will see it before paying.

## The profession rule

Bahrain’s GCC resident visa is meant for skilled and professional residents. In
practice:

 * Managers, engineers, doctors, nurses, accountants, IT staff, teachers, sales
   and administrative staff generally qualify.
 * Labourers, and often domestic workers and drivers, generally do not.
 * What counts is the title on your **residence visa and Emirates ID**, not what
   you do day to day.

If your title is borderline, apply online first rather than turning up at the airport.
A refusal online costs you the application fee; a refusal at the airport costs you
a return flight.

## Visa types and fees

The eVisa fee is made up of a **BHD 4 application fee** (non-refundable) plus the
visa fee, which you pay after approval.

| Visa | Stay | Total cost (eVisa) |
| 2-week single entry | Up to 14 days | BHD 9 |
| 3-month multiple entry | Up to 1 month per visit | BHD 16 |
| 1-year multiple entry | Check per-visit limit on portal | BHD 44 |

BHD 1 is about AED 9.75, so the two-week visa costs about AED 88 and the one-year
visa about AED 430.

### Visa on arrival

Eligible GCC residents can also get a visa at Bahrain International Airport. Published
figures are BHD 5 for two weeks and BHD 12 for three months, without the BHD 4 online
application fee. The officer decides on the spot. If you are refused, you fly back.

**Our advice:** the eVisa costs BHD 4 more but gives you certainty before you buy
flights. For families, that certainty is worth it.

## Documents for the eVisa

 * Passport bio page scan (valid at least six months from arrival).
 * UAE residence visa and Emirates ID copy (valid at least three months).
 * Confirmed return or onward ticket.
 * Hotel booking, or the host’s Bahraini ID or residence copy if staying with family
   or friends.
 * For some applicants, recent bank statements. The NPRA can ask for them, and published
guidance mentions three months of statements. See our [UAE bank statement guide](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/visa-documents-uae-bank-statement-for-visa/)
   for format.

## How to apply step by step

 1. Open **evisa.gov.bh**. This is the only official portal. Ignore sites with “Bahrain
visa” in the name that charge service fees.
 2. Choose **“Apply for eVisa”**, then select your nationality.
 3. When asked about residence, choose **GCC resident** and select the United Arab
     Emirates.
 4. Pick the visa type: 2-week, 3-month or 1-year.
 5. Fill in your passport, residence and travel details exactly as shown on your documents.
 6. Upload your documents and pay the BHD 4 application fee by card.
 7. Note your reference number. Track the status on the same portal.
 8. Once approved, pay the visa fee within the time limit shown (published guidance
     says one month).
 9. Download and print the eVisa. Carry it with your passport and Emirates ID.

You must be **outside Bahrain** when you apply.

![Applying for a Bahrain eVisa online from the UAE](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/
uploads/2026/10/bahrain-evisa-steps-uae-1.webp)

## Processing time

Bahrain’s own FAQ guidance gives about **3 to 5 working days**. Some applications
are approved within a day; others take a week. Apply at least one week before travel,
and two weeks if your trip is during Eid or the Bahrain Grand Prix.

## Driving to Bahrain from the UAE

There is no direct road. You drive through Saudi Arabia and cross the 25 km **King
Fahd Causeway** from Al Khobar. You need:

 * A Saudi visa valid for transit (UAE residents can usually use the Saudi GCC resident
eVisa — see our [Saudi guide](https://sifqa.com/visas/saudi-visa-for-uae-residents/)).
 * Your Bahrain eVisa.
 * Car insurance valid in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain (buy at the borders if your UAE
   policy does not cover them).
 * Your Mulkiya and, for a company or financed car, a no-objection letter from the
   owner.

The causeway charges a toll each way. The drive from Dubai is about 8 to 9 hours
plus border time.

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Applying while your residence has less than three months left. Renew first.
 * Choosing your nationality’s standard eVisa instead of the **GCC resident** option—
it can be more expensive and require more documents.
 * Forgetting to pay the visa fee after approval. An approved but unpaid application
   cannot be used.
 * Overstaying. Fines are charged per day and an overstay record can affect future
   GCC visas.

![Documents for a Bahrain GCC resident eVisa](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/uploads/
2026/10/bahrain-visa-documents-uae-1.webp)

## If you are refused

Bahrain does not publish a formal appeal process for eVisas. If you are refused:

 * Check whether your profession or residence validity was the issue and fix it
   before reapplying.
 * If you think the refusal is an error, contact the NPRA through the eVisa portal’s
contact details or the Bahrain Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
 * Consider whether a different eVisa type for your nationality fits better.

## Questions people ask

### Can UAE residents get a visa on arrival in Bahrain?

Yes, if your residence is valid for at least three months and your profession is
not classified as labourer. Applying online first is safer.

### How much is the Bahrain visa for UAE residents?

BHD 9 for a two-week eVisa, BHD 16 for three months and BHD 44 for one year, including
the BHD 4 application fee. Check the portal for current amounts.

### Can my wife and children get a Bahrain visa?

Yes, each needs their own application using their own UAE residence. Dependants
without a profession title are usually assessed under the sponsor’s details — check
the portal for your case.

### Is there a single GCC visa I can use for Bahrain?

Not yet. The GCC “Grand Tours” unified visa had not launched as of 14 October 2026.

### Do I need travel insurance for Bahrain?

It is not listed as a mandatory document for the GCC resident eVisa, but a policy
covering medical treatment is strongly recommended.

## Armenia Visa for UAE Residents (2026): Visa-Free Until July 2027

Armenia has become one of the easiest short trips from the UAE: about three hours’
flight, and for most UAE residents, no visa at all. Since the start of 2026, Armenia
has let foreigners holding a valid **UAE residence permit** enter without a visa.
In July 2026 the waiver was **extended until 1 July 2027**. This guide explains
who qualifies, what the border officer checks, and the backup if you do not qualify.

**Checked on 14 October 2026**. Armenia’s waiver is temporary and its nationality
list has changed once already, so check the Armenian MFA page before you fly. Sources
at the end.

 * [Questions people ask](https://sifqa.com/visas/armenia-visa-for-uae-residents/#faq)

## The short answer

| Question | Answer |
| Do UAE residents need a visa? | Usually no, until 1 July 2027 |
| What you show | Passport + valid UAE residence permit (physical card or visa sticker) |
| Residence validity | At least 6 months from entry |
| Stay | Up to 180 days in a one-year period |
| Nationalities covered | 111 nationalities (Yemen and Sudan removed in July 2026) |
| Not covered? | Apply for an Armenian e-visa at evisa.mfa.am |
| UAE nationals | Visa-free under a separate agreement |

## Your passport decides, your residence changes the route

Many nationalities living at home need a visa for Armenia. Indian, Filipino and
Egyptian passport holders, for example, normally need one. As a **UAE resident**,
your residence permit can replace that visa — but only if **your nationality is
on Armenia’s list** of 111 nationalities that benefit from the waiver.

So two checks decide your route:

 1. **Residence:** do you hold a valid UAE residence permit with at least six months
    left?
 2. **Passport:** is your nationality on the MFA’s list?

If both answers are yes, you fly without a visa. If either is no, you apply for
an e-visa.

## What your UAE residence must show

According to the MFA notice reported in July 2026 and earlier guidance:

 * It must be a **residence permit**. A UAE visit visa or tourist visa does not
   count.
 * It must be valid for **at least six months** from the date you enter Armenia.
 * It must be shown as a **physical Emirates ID card or a residence sticker** in
your passport. A screenshot or app record may not be accepted.

Since the UAE stopped putting residence stickers in passports, most residents will
show the **Emirates ID card**. Carry the physical card. If you have an e-visa residence
without a card in hand, print your residence document from ICP or GDRFA and also
carry it — but expect questions.

## How long you can stay

Up to **180 days within a one-year period**. That is far more than a holiday needs,
but it is not permission to work. Armenia’s waiver covers visits.

![UAE residence card and passport for visa-free entry to Armenia](https://sifqa.
com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/armenia-entry-uae-residence-card-1.webp)

## If you do not qualify: the e-visa

If your nationality is not on the list, or your UAE residence has less than six
months left, apply for an e-visa on Armenia’s official portal:

 1. Go to **evisa.mfa.am** (the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal).
 2. Choose a 21-day or 120-day e-visa.
 3. Upload your passport bio page and a photo, and enter your travel details.
 4. Pay online by card.
 5. Wait for approval by email — usually a few working days.
 6. Print the e-visa and carry it with your passport.

Some nationalities cannot use the e-visa and must apply at an Armenian embassy.
The Embassy of Armenia in Abu Dhabi handles applications from UAE residents.

## What to carry at the border

 * Passport valid for the length of your stay.
 * Emirates ID (physical card), valid at least six months.
 * Return ticket.
 * Hotel booking or host’s address.
 * Enough money for your stay. Armenia does not publish a fixed amount for visa-
free visitors, but you may be asked.

## Combining Armenia with Georgia

Many UAE residents combine Armenia and Georgia in one trip. Georgia has its own
rules for UAE residents, and some passports need a UAE residence valid for at least
one year. Read our [Georgia entry rules for UAE residents](https://sifqa.com/visas/georgia-entry-rules-uae-residents/)
guide before planning a route.

**Azerbaijan is not a land option from Armenia.** The Armenia–Azerbaijan land border
is not open for normal travel. Fly between them via a third country, and keep your
Azerbaijan plans separate — see our [Azerbaijan guide](https://sifqa.com/visas/azerbaijan-visa-for-uae-residents/).

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Travelling on a residence with less than six months left.
 * Assuming the list never changes. Yemen and Sudan were removed in July 2026.
 * Leaving your Emirates ID at home and relying on a photo.
 * Booking a trip that ends after 1 July 2027 without checking whether the waiver
   has been extended again.

## Questions people ask

### Do Indian residents of the UAE need a visa for Armenia?

Published reports in 2026 indicate Indian nationals with a valid UAE residence permit
can enter visa-free under the waiver. Confirm that India is on the current MFA list
before travelling.

### Do Pakistani residents of the UAE need a visa for Armenia?

It depends on whether Pakistan is on the MFA’s list of eligible nationalities. Check
mfa.am/en/visa. If not, apply for an e-visa or at the embassy.

### My UAE residence expires in four months. Can I go?

Not visa-free. The waiver requires at least six months of validity. Apply for an
e-visa instead, or renew your residence first.

### Can I work remotely from Armenia on the waiver?

The waiver is for visits. Remote work rules are not covered by it. Check with the
Armenian authorities before planning a long stay.

### When does the waiver end?

1 July 2027, unless Armenia extends or changes it again.

## Kuwait Visa for UAE Residents (2026): Visa on Arrival and eVisa

Kuwait used to be the hardest GCC trip for many UAE expats. Its visa on arrival
was limited to a list of professions, and many residents did not qualify. That changed
in August 2025. Kuwait now gives a **tourist visa on arrival to any foreign resident
of a GCC country**, as long as your residence has enough time left on it. This guide
explains the new rule, what to carry, and when the eVisa is the better choice.

**Checked on 14 October 2026** against Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior eVisa portal
and published reports of the August 2025 decision. Sources at the end.

## The short answer

| Question | Answer |
| Who qualifies | Foreign residents of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain or Oman |
| Profession list? | No — removed in August 2025 |
| UAE residence validity | At least 6 months from arrival |
| Passport validity | At least 6 months from arrival |
| Where | Any Kuwait entry point, including Kuwait International Airport |
| Stay | Up to 90 days (tourist visa) |
| Online option | eVisa at kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw — some nationalities excluded |
| UAE nationals | No visa needed |

## Your passport decides, your residence changes the route

If you lived in your home country, your passport would decide whether Kuwait lets
you in and how. As a UAE resident, Kuwait now treats you primarily as a **GCC resident**.
Since **10–11 August 2025**, Kuwait’s visa on arrival is open to all foreign residents
of GCC countries, replacing a 2008 rule that limited it to certain professions such
as doctors, engineers and managers.

Your passport still matters for the **eVisa**. Published guidance says citizens
of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Yemen cannot use the Kuwait
eVisa even with GCC residence and must apply through a Kuwaiti embassy. If you hold
one of those passports, ask the Kuwait Embassy in Abu Dhabi whether the GCC resident
visa on arrival applies to you before you fly.

## Who qualifies for the visa on arrival

 * You hold a valid UAE residence visa (or other GCC residence) with **at least
   six months** left.
 * Your passport is valid for at least six months.
 * You have a confirmed return or onward ticket.
 * You have an address in Kuwait — a hotel booking or your host’s details.
 * You have no previous deportation, overstay or ban in Kuwait.

The six-month rule is stricter than Qatar or Bahrain. Check your Emirates ID or
residence expiry date before booking.

## What happens at the airport

 1. After landing at Kuwait International Airport, go to the **visa counter before
    passport control**.
 2. Show your passport, Emirates ID or residence, return ticket and accommodation details.
 3. Pay the fee. Published guidance says cash in Kuwaiti dinars or card are accepted.
 4. Keep the receipt and proceed to immigration with your visa.

The process usually takes 15 to 30 minutes, longer when several flights land together.

![Airport arrival with passport and residence card](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/
uploads/2026/10/kuwait-visa-on-arrival-airport-1.webp)

## Documents to carry

 * Passport (valid 6+ months, in good condition).
 * Emirates ID and residence visa (valid 6+ months).
 * Printed return or onward ticket.
 * Hotel booking or host’s Kuwaiti civil ID copy and address.
 * A card or Kuwaiti dinars for the fee.

## The eVisa option

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior runs the official eVisa portal at **kuwaitvisa.moi.
gov.kw**. GCC residents can use it to get approval before travel. It is worth using
if:

 * You are travelling with children and want certainty before the airport.
 * Your residence has close to six months left and you want an answer in advance.
 * You want to avoid queues at the airport counter.

### How to apply for the eVisa

 1. Open kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw and choose the tourist visa for GCC residents.
 2. Enter your passport and UAE residence details.
 3. Upload your passport, residence and a recent photo.
 4. Pay by card.
 5. Download the approved eVisa and print it.

## How long you can stay

Kuwait’s tourist visa for GCC residents allows a stay of up to **90 days** as reported
at the time of the August 2025 decision. Visa on arrival is single entry. Published
guidance says a one-month extension may be possible at the General Directorate of
Residency Affairs before the visa expires.

Overstaying is charged per day and can affect future visas for Kuwait and other
GCC states. Leave on time.

## What you cannot do

 * **Work.** The tourist visa does not allow any employment.
 * **Change status** inside Kuwait without the proper sponsor process.
 * **Use it for Umrah or Saudi entry.** Each GCC country issues its own visa.

## Driving from the UAE

There is no direct border. You drive across Saudi Arabia — roughly 1,000 km — and
enter Kuwait at Al Nuwaiseeb. You need a Saudi visa valid for transit, car insurance
valid in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and your Mulkiya. Most UAE residents fly; the
trip is under two hours from Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

![Documents to carry for a Kuwait visa on arrival](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/
uploads/2026/10/kuwait-visa-documents-uae-1.webp)

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Travelling with less than six months left on your UAE residence.
 * Relying on an old article listing approved professions — that list no longer
applies to the visa on arrival.
 * Booking through websites that sell “Kuwait eVisa” at a mark-up. The official
   portal is on moi.gov.kw.
 * Assuming the eVisa is open to every nationality. It is not.

## Questions people ask

### Can UAE residents get a Kuwait visa on arrival?

Yes. Since August 2025, all foreign residents of GCC countries can get a tourist
visa on arrival, provided their residence and passport are each valid for at least
six months.

### Is there still a profession list for Kuwait?

Not for the GCC resident visa on arrival. The profession list was removed in August
2025.

### Can Pakistani and Bangladeshi UAE residents visit Kuwait?

They cannot use the Kuwait eVisa, according to published guidance. Ask the Kuwait
Embassy in Abu Dhabi whether the visa on arrival applies before booking.

### How long can I stay in Kuwait?

Up to 90 days on the tourist visa for GCC residents, single entry.

### Can my family get the visa on arrival?

Yes. Each person must hold their own valid UAE residence and passport, and each
adult pays the fee.

## Thailand Visa for UAE Residents (2026): New 30-Day Rule, e-Visa and TDAC

Thailand changed its entry rules on **15 September 2026**. The 60-day visa-free
stay that ran since July 2024 has ended. Most nationalities that were visa-free
now get **30 days**, and visa on arrival is now limited to three countries. For
UAE residents, this matters because Thailand does **not** give any benefit for UAE
residence: **your passport alone decides**. This guide explains who is visa-free,
who needs an e-visa, and how to apply from Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

**Checked on 14 October 2026** against the Thai e-Visa portal and published summaries
of the Thai government orders. Sources at the end.

 * [Questions people ask](https://sifqa.com/visas/thailand-visa-for-uae-residents/#faq)

## The short answer by passport

| Passport | Since 15 September 2026 |
| UAE | Visa-free, 30 days |
| India | Visa-free, 30 days (no longer visa on arrival) |
| Philippines | Visa-free, 30 days |
| UK, US, EU, Australia, Canada | Visa-free, 30 days |
| Pakistan | Visa required — apply for an e-visa |
| Egypt | Visa required — apply for an e-visa |
| Bangladesh | Visa required — apply for an e-visa |
| Sri Lanka | Visa required — apply for an e-visa |
| Nigeria | Visa required — apply for an e-visa |

## Your passport decides — your residence does not change the route here

Unlike Armenia, Azerbaijan or the GCC countries, Thailand does not offer a special
route for UAE residents. A Pakistani engineer who has lived in Dubai for ten years
has the same Thai visa requirement as a Pakistani applying from Karachi.

Where your UAE residence **does** matter is the **e-visa application**. Thai e-visas
are applied for through the Thai mission covering the country where you live. As
a UAE resident, you apply under a Thai mission in the UAE, using your UAE documents.

## If your passport is visa-free

 * You can stay up to **30 days** for tourism.
 * One extension of up to 30 days may be granted at a Thai immigration office, at
the officer’s discretion, for a fee.
 * Entries under the visa exemption are limited to **two per calendar year** (with
   exceptions for some ASEAN neighbours).
 * You must complete the **TDAC** (see below).
 * Officers can ask for a return ticket, hotel booking and proof of funds.

If you entered on or before 14 September 2026 under the old rules, you keep the
stay you were given on arrival.

## If you need a visa: the Thai e-visa

Pakistani, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nigerian and other visa-required passport
holders apply online at **thaievisa.go.th**. There is no paper application at the
embassy for most tourist visas.

### Documents for a tourist e-visa

 * Passport bio page (valid at least six months).
 * UAE residence visa and Emirates ID.
 * A recent photo.
 * Confirmed return flight booking.
 * Hotel booking or invitation letter for the whole stay.
 * Bank statement for recent months, stamped by your bank. See our [bank statement guide](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/visa-documents-uae-bank-statement-for-visa/).
 * Employment letter or NOC. See our [NOC templates](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/uae-noc-letter-visa/).

Published guidance for UAE applicants suggests a balance of roughly **USD 700 per
person** (around AED 2,600) for a tourist visa. Thailand does not publish a fixed
UAE figure, so show more if your trip is long.

### How to apply step by step

 1. Go to **thaievisa.go.th** and create an account.
 2. Choose your **country of residence: United Arab Emirates**, and select the Thai
    mission the portal assigns.
 3. Choose the visa type: **Tourist Visa (TR)**, single entry.
 4. Fill in your passport, UAE residence and travel details.
 5. Upload your documents as PDF or JPG.
 6. Pay the fee online.
 7. Wait for the decision by email — published guidance for UAE applicants suggests
    10 to 14 working days.
 8. Print the approved e-visa and carry it with your passport.

The tourist e-visa usually allows a stay of up to **60 days** per entry, which is
longer than the new visa-free stay.

![Applying for a Thai e-visa from the UAE](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/uploads/
2026/10/thailand-evisa-steps-uae.webp)

## The TDAC arrival card — everyone

Since 2025, every foreign visitor must complete the **Thailand Digital Arrival Card**
online before arrival, replacing the paper TM6 form. This applies whether you are
visa-free or hold a visa.

 * Official site: **tdac.immigration.go.th**.
 * It is **free**. Sites charging for the TDAC are not official.
 * Submit it within **three days before arrival**.
 * Save the confirmation QR code on your phone.

## Visa on arrival is now very limited

From 15 September 2026, Thailand’s visa on arrival is only for Azerbaijan, Belarus
and Serbia, for 15 days at THB 2,000. If an older guide tells you that Indians can
get a visa on arrival in Bangkok, it describes the old rules.

![Completing a digital arrival card before flying to Thailand](https://sifqa.com/
wp-content/uploads/2026/10/thailand-tdac-uae-traveller.webp)

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Assuming the old 60-day stay still applies. It does not for new entries.
 * Paying a third-party site for the TDAC or e-visa.
 * Applying under a mission outside the UAE. You apply where you legally reside.
 * Booking non-refundable flights before your e-visa is approved.
 * Entering visa-free a third time in one calendar year.

10/thailand-trip-planning-uae.webp)

## Questions people ask

### Do UAE residents need a visa for Thailand?

It depends on your passport, not your UAE residence. Indian, Filipino and Emirati
passport holders are visa-free for 30 days. Pakistani, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Sri
Lankan and Nigerian passport holders need an e-visa.

### Can Indians still get a Thailand visa on arrival?

Not under the rules in force since 15 September 2026. Indian passport holders are
on the 30-day visa-free list instead.

### How long does a Thai e-visa take from the UAE?

Published guidance for UAE applicants suggests 10 to 14 working days. Apply at least
a month before travel.

### Is the TDAC free?

Yes. Use only tdac.immigration.go.th.

### Can I extend my 30-day visa-free stay?

Usually once, for up to 30 days, at a Thai immigration office, at the officer’s
discretion and for a fee.

## Azerbaijan Visa for UAE Residents (2026): ASAN e-Visa or Visa on Arrival

Baku is about three hours from Dubai and one of the most popular long weekends for
UAE residents. There are two ways in: the online **ASAN e-visa**, open to citizens
of a list of countries, and a **visa at the airport** available to UAE residence
holders. Which one you can use depends on your passport and how long your UAE residence
has left. This guide explains both, the costs, and the registration rule that catches
visitors who stay longer than two weeks.

**Checked on 14 October 2026** against the official ASAN Visa portal and the Embassy
of Azerbaijan in Abu Dhabi. Sources at the end.

 * [Questions people ask](https://sifqa.com/visas/azerbaijan-visa-for-uae-residents/#faq)

## The short answer

| Route | Who can use it | Cost | Stay |
| ASAN e-visa (standard) | Citizens of countries on the evisa.gov.az list | USD 25 (USD 20 state fee + USD 5 service), up to 3 working days | Up to 30 days, single entry |
| ASAN e-visa (urgent) | Same | USD 60, within about 3 hours | Up to 30 days, single entry |
| Airport visa for UAE residents | Foreign UAE residents meeting the residence-validity rule | Reported around USD 30 | Up to 30 days |
| No visa | UAE nationals | Free | Up to 90 days in 180 |

## Your passport decides, your residence changes the route

The **ASAN e-visa** is decided by your **passport**. Azerbaijan publishes the list
of nationalities that can apply online on evisa.gov.az. If your country is on it,
where you live does not matter.

The **airport visa** is decided by your **UAE residence**. Since 2018, Azerbaijan
has issued visas at its international airports to foreign residents of the UAE,
which opened Baku to nationalities that cannot use the e-visa. Published guidance
says your UAE residence must be valid for more than six months.

So:

 * If your passport is on the e-visa list, use the e-visa. It is cheaper and certain
   before you fly.
 * If your passport is not on the list, the airport visa for UAE residents may be
your route — confirm with the embassy first.

## How to apply for the ASAN e-visa

 1. Go to **evisa.gov.az**. This is the government portal. Many look-alike sites charge
two or three times the fee.
 2. Check that your nationality appears in the country list.
 3. Enter your passport details, travel dates and accommodation address in Azerbaijan.
 4. Upload a scan of your passport bio page.
 5. Choose standard (up to 3 working days) or urgent (about 3 hours).
 6. Pay by card. The card does not need to be in your name.
 7. The e-visa arrives by email. Print it.

Fees are non-refundable, including when the application is refused. You must enter
within 90 days of issue, and the e-visa cannot be extended.

![Applying for the ASAN e-visa online](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/
10/azerbaijan-asan-evisa-steps.webp)

## The airport visa for UAE residents

If you plan to use the airport route at Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD):

 * Carry your passport, your Emirates ID and proof of UAE residence with more than
   six months left.
 * Carry a return ticket and hotel booking.
 * At arrival, go to the visa kiosks before passport control and pay by card.
 * Expect queues during UAE holidays and Eid.

Because the e-visa is cheap and quick, most residents whose passport is on the list
choose it over the airport route.

## Documents

 * Passport valid for at least three months beyond your visa’s expiry.
 * E-visa printout (or residence proof for the airport visa).
 * Hotel booking or host’s address.
 * Return ticket.
 * Travel insurance is not mandatory on the e-visa, but is strongly recommended.

## The 15-day registration rule

If you stay in Azerbaijan for **more than 15 days**, you must register your place
of stay with the State Migration Service. Hotels usually register guests automatically;
if you stay in a private apartment or with friends, you must do it yourself, online
or through your host. Missing registration can lead to a fine when you leave.

## Travelling to Armenia from Azerbaijan

There are no normal direct border crossings between Azerbaijan and Armenia for travellers.
If you want to visit both, plan two separate trips or fly via Georgia or the UAE.
Some travellers have reported questions at Baku airport about previous visits to
the Nagorno-Karabakh region via Armenia. Answer honestly.

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Paying a “visa agency” website instead of evisa.gov.az.
 * Entering the wrong passport number or date of birth. An e-visa with an error
is invalid, and the fee is not refunded.
 * Flying on the airport-visa route with a UAE residence close to expiry.
 * Staying more than 15 days without registering.
 * Planning a land crossing to Armenia.

## Questions people ask

### Do Indian residents of the UAE need a visa for Azerbaijan?

Yes. Indian nationals use the ASAN e-visa if India appears on the evisa.gov.az list,
which it has done in recent years. Check the list before applying.

### Can Pakistani residents of the UAE get an Azerbaijan visa?

Check whether Pakistan is on the e-visa list on evisa.gov.az. If not, ask the Embassy
of Azerbaijan in Abu Dhabi about the airport visa for UAE residents before booking.

### How much is the Azerbaijan e-visa?

USD 25 for standard processing (up to three working days) or USD 60 for urgent processing(
about three hours).

### How long can I stay?

Up to 30 days on a single entry. Stays over 15 days need registration with the State
Migration Service.

### Can I extend an Azerbaijan e-visa?

No. If you need longer, leave and apply again, or talk to the State Migration Service
before your visa expires.

Japan is one of the most requested trips from the UAE, and one of the most straightforward
visas to apply for — if your file is complete. Since August 2024, **all UAE residents**
who need a Japanese visa apply through **VFS Global**, not directly at the embassy
or consulate. And from **1 July 2026**, Japan increased its visa fees sharply. This
guide covers who needs a visa, the new costs, the documents and the itinerary Japan
expects.

**Checked on 14 October 2026** against Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the
Japanese missions in the UAE. Sources at the end.

## The short answer

| Question | Answer |
| UAE nationals | Visa-free for short stays (registration may apply — check MOFA) |
| Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nigerian passports | Visa required |
| Where to apply | VFS Global — Dubai (WAFI Mall) or Abu Dhabi (World Trade Centre Mall) |
| Visa fee from 1 July 2026 | About JPY 15,000 single entry, JPY 30,000 multiple, paid in AED |
| VFS service fee | About AED 100 including VAT |
| Processing | At least 8–10 working days |
| Stay | Up to 90 days (usually granted for the length of your trip) |

## Your passport decides, your residence changes the route

Your **passport** decides whether you need a visa at all. Most South Asian, Filipino,
Egyptian and African passports need one. Your **UAE residence** decides **where**
you apply: Japan accepts applications from foreign nationals legally resident in
the UAE, and you apply in the UAE rather than flying home.

Your emirate decides **which centre**:

| You live in | Apply at |
| Abu Dhabi (including Al Ain) | VFS Japan centre, Abu Dhabi — The Mall, World Trade Centre |
| Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah | VFS Japan centre, Dubai — WAFI Mall |

### The Japan eVISA

Japan’s eVISA lets some applicants receive a single-entry tourist visa electronically
instead of a passport sticker. For UAE residents it is handled through VFS too:
you still submit through the centre, but the visa may be issued as an eVISA linked
to your passport. Whether you get an eVISA or a sticker depends on your nationality
and the mission’s current practice.

## Fees from 1 July 2026

Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced new fees for applications accepted
on or after **1 July 2026**:

| Visa | New fee (approx.) |
| Single entry | JPY 15,000 |
| Multiple entry | JPY 30,000 |

The fee is paid in the local currency — dirhams — at the converted rate set by the
mission. Under Japanese practice, the visa fee is charged when the visa is issued,
not if it is refused. The VFS service fee is separate and paid at submission.

## Documents for a tourist visa

Japan’s checklist for UAE residents is detailed. Missing one item usually means
a returned file.

 * Valid passport with blank pages, and old passports if you have travelled before.
 * Visa application form, completed and signed.
 * One photo, 45mm x 35mm, white background, taken within six months.
 * UAE residence visa and Emirates ID copy.
 * **Proof of residence** in the UAE, such as a tenancy contract (Ejari) or utility
   bill.
 * Flight reservation (not necessarily a paid ticket).
 * Hotel bookings for every night.
 * **Daily itinerary** (see below).
 * Bank statement for recent months, stamped. See our [bank statement guide](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/visa-documents-uae-bank-statement-for-visa/).
 * Salary certificate or employment letter. See our [NOC templates](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/uae-noc-letter-visa/).
 * If self-employed: trade licence and company bank statements.
 * If sponsored by a spouse or parent: the sponsor’s documents and proof of relationship.
 * If invited by someone in Japan: invitation letter and guarantee letter from the
   host.

## The daily itinerary Japan expects

Japan asks for a day-by-day schedule, usually on its own form (sometimes called “
Schedule of Stay”). Fill it in for every date:

| Date | Activity | Contact / hotel |
| Day 1 | Arrive Narita, transfer to Shinjuku | Hotel name, address, phone |
| Day 2 | Tokyo sightseeing: Asakusa, Ueno | Same hotel |
| Day 3 | Day trip to Nikko | Same hotel |
| Day 4 | Shinkansen to Kyoto | New hotel name, address, phone |

Your itinerary, hotels and flights must match each other. Mismatched dates are a
common reason files are sent back.

![Writing a daily itinerary for a Japan visa application](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/
uploads/2026/10/japan-visa-itinerary-planning.webp)

## How to apply step by step

 1. Check that you need a visa and which VFS centre covers your emirate.
 2. Download the application form and checklist from the VFS Japan UAE page.
 3. Prepare documents in the order of the checklist.
 4. Book an appointment online with VFS.
 5. Attend with original documents and copies. Pay the VFS service fee.
 6. Track your application on the VFS website.
 7. Collect your passport, or receive your eVISA details, when ready.

## Processing time

Allow at least **8 to 10 working days** after submission, longer in peak seasons
such as cherry blossom (March–April) and the UAE summer holidays. Apply four to
six weeks before travel. You may apply up to three months before your trip.

## If you are refused

Japan does not give detailed reasons for refusals and does not have an appeal process.
Japanese missions generally will not accept a new application for the **same purpose
within six months** of a refusal. Make your first application complete.

wp-content/uploads/2026/10/japan-visa-documents-uae.webp)

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Missing proof of residence (Ejari or utility bill). Many applicants forget it.
 * An itinerary with gaps or dates that do not match the hotel bookings.
 * Applying at the wrong centre for your emirate.
 * Large unexplained deposits in your bank statement just before applying.
 * Booking non-refundable flights before approval.

## South Korea Visa from the UAE (2026): Embassy, Consulate, Documents and K-ETA

South Korea has become a favourite for UAE residents, from K-culture fans to families
on summer holidays. For most expat passports it needs a visa, and the process here
is **in person, by appointment, with cash fees**. The Korean missions in the UAE
also apply residence rules that decide whether you can apply here at all. This guide
covers those rules, how appointments open, the documents and what happens after
you submit.

**Checked on 14 October 2026** against the Consulate General of Korea in Dubai and
the Korean Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Sources at the end.

## The short answer

| Question | Answer |
| UAE nationals | Visa-free for short stays; check K-ETA status at k-eta.go.kr |
| Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nigerian passports | Visa required |
| Who can apply in the UAE | Residents with a UAE residence visa valid at least 6 months; some nationalities need 2 years’ continuous UAE residence |
| Where | Abu Dhabi and Al Ain residents: Korean Embassy, Abu Dhabi. Other emirates: Consulate General, Dubai |
| Appointment | Online, no walk-ins |
| Fee | Exact cash only, non-refundable |
| Processing | About 7 calendar days (Dubai consulate) |

## Your passport decides, your residence changes the route

Your **passport** decides whether you need a visa. Your **UAE residence** decides
whether you can apply in the UAE. The Dubai consulate states that non-UAE nationals
can apply if they hold a **UAE residence visa with at least six months** remaining,
and that **for some nationalities** the UAE residence must also have been held **
continuously for the most recent two years**.

If you do not meet the residence rule, you may have to apply in your home country.

## Embassy or consulate?

| You live in | Apply at |
| Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al Dhafra | Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Abu Dhabi |
| Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah | Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, Dubai |

## How appointments open

For **tourist visas** at the Dubai consulate, book online through **g4k.go.kr** (“
Reservation to visit a diplomatic mission”). Walk-ins are not accepted. Slots are
released twice a month at 8:30am:

 * Appointments for the **1st to 15th** of a month open on the **16th of the previous
   month**.
 * Appointments for the **16th to end** of a month open on the **1st of that month**.
 * If the opening day is a weekend or holiday, slots open the next business day.

For non-tourist visas, the consulate asks you to email **dubaivisaapp@mofa.go.kr**
with the visa type in the subject line and your name, date of birth, nationality,
purpose and travel date. Incomplete requests are cancelled.

![Booking a Korean visa appointment from the UAE](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/uploads/
2026/10/south-korea-visa-appointment-uae.webp)

## Documents for a tourist visa

The missions publish their own checklist, which you must follow. Expect:

 * Passport valid at least six months, and old passports.
 * Visa application form, completed.
 * One photo, 35mm x 45mm, white background.
 * UAE residence visa and Emirates ID copies.
 * Flight reservation and hotel bookings.
 * Travel itinerary.
 * **Bank statement issued within the last two weeks**, stamped. See our [bank statement guide](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/visa-documents-uae-bank-statement-for-visa/).
 * **Employment letter issued within the last month**. See our [NOC templates](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/uae-noc-letter-visa/).
 * If self-employed: trade licence.

### Document rules that cause rejections

The Dubai consulate states that:

 * The company letter must be dated **within one month**.
 * The bank statement must be issued **within two weeks**.
 * Other documents must be issued **within three months**.
 * Documents must be in **English or Korean**. Arabic documents need a translation,
   and you submit both.

## Fees and payment

The consulate charges visa fees in **exact cash only**. It does not give change
and does not accept cards. Fees are **not refunded** if your visa is refused or
you cancel. Check the fee notice on the mission’s website the week you apply and
bring the exact amount.

## Processing and collection

 * The Dubai consulate processes in about **7 calendar days** from submission. There
   is no urgent service.
 * Your **original passport is held** for the whole process. Do not plan other travel
   during that week.
 * Collect the visa on the date on your receipt.
 * If refused, the fee is not refunded and documents are not returned. You can reapply
only **three months** after the last refusal.

A Korean visa does not guarantee entry. The immigration officer at the airport makes
the final decision.

![Documents for a South Korea visa in the UAE](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/uploads/
2026/10/south-korea-visa-documents-uae.webp)

## K-ETA for visa-free passports

If your passport is visa-free for Korea, you may need a **K-ETA** (Korea Electronic
Travel Authorization) instead of a visa. Korea has temporarily exempted certain
countries from K-ETA. Check your nationality on the official site **k-eta.go.kr**
before you fly. Ignore sites charging extra.

## Mistakes to avoid

 * A bank statement older than two weeks on the appointment day.
 * Forgetting the English translation of an Arabic document.
 * Bringing a card or large notes for the fee.
 * Missing the appointment release time.
 * Reapplying within three months of a refusal.

## Singapore Visa for UAE Residents (2026): Who Needs One and How to Apply

Singapore is a common stopover and holiday from the UAE, but the visa process confuses
many residents for one reason: **the Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi does not accept
visa applications**. You apply through an **authorised visa agent** or a **contact
in Singapore**, and the visa is issued electronically by Singapore’s Immigration&
Checkpoints Authority (ICA). This guide explains who needs a visa, the two routes,
the documents and the costs.

**Checked on 14 October 2026** against ICA and the Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

## The short answer by passport

| Passport | Visa for a short visit? |
| UAE | No visa needed |
| Philippines | No visa needed for short visits |
| Sri Lanka | No visa needed for short visits |
| UK, US, EU, Australia, Canada | No visa needed |
| India | Visa required |
| Pakistan | Visa required |
| Bangladesh | Visa required |
| Egypt | Visa required |
| Nigeria | Visa required |

## Your passport decides — your residence changes how you apply

Singapore’s visa requirement depends only on your **passport**. Living in the UAE
does not make you visa-free.

What your UAE residence changes is **the channel**. Singapore does not take applications
at its mission in the UAE. The embassy’s own guidance lists two ways to apply:

 1. **Through a local contact in Singapore**, who submits online for you.
 2. **Through the authorised visa agent** named by the embassy for the UAE.

The decision is always made by ICA in Singapore, whichever route you use.

## Route 1: the authorised visa agent in the UAE

The Singapore Embassy in Abu Dhabi names one authorised visa agent on its consular
page:

 * **Omeir Travel Agency**, Omeir Tower, Sheikh Khalifa Street, Abu Dhabi. Tel:
   +971 2 612 3656. Email: visa@omeir.ae.

The embassy says it does not endorse other visa agencies and is not responsible
for losses from using them. Many travel agents in Dubai will also accept Singapore
applications; they usually pass them to an agent in Singapore. If you use one, ask
clearly **who submits to ICA** and what the total fee is.

## Route 2: a local contact in Singapore

A Singapore citizen, permanent resident or registered company can apply for you
through ICA’s online system. The contact acts as your local sponsor and must be
willing to be responsible for your visit. This route is common when you are visiting
family or attending a business meeting.

## Documents to prepare

The exact list depends on the agent or contact, but expect:

 * Passport valid at least six months, with a blank page.
 * ICA visa application form (Form 14A), completed and signed.
 * Recent photo matching ICA specifications.
 * UAE residence visa and Emirates ID copies.
 * Return flight reservation and hotel bookings.
 * Recent bank statements, stamped. See our [bank statement guide](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/visa-documents-uae-bank-statement-for-visa/).
 * Employment letter or salary certificate.
 * For family visits: a letter from your host in Singapore.

![Documents for a Singapore visa application from the UAE](https://sifqa.com/wp-
content/uploads/2026/10/singapore-visa-documents-uae.webp)

## Fees

| Item | Cost |
| ICA visa fee | SGD 30 per application (charged even if refused, according to ICA’s standard practice) |
| Agent service fee | Set by the agent — ask for it in writing |

## Processing time and what you receive

ICA usually decides within a few working days of receiving the application, not
counting the time your agent takes. Allow at least two weeks in total.

If approved, you receive an **e-Visa** (a printable document). Carry the printout
with your passport. The e-Visa shows how long it is valid and how many entries it
allows. The length of your stay is decided by the officer at the border, not by
the visa.

## The SG Arrival Card — everyone

Every visitor, including visa-free travellers, must submit the **SG Arrival Card**
online within **three days before arrival**. It is **free** on ICA’s official site
or the MyICA mobile app. Websites charging for it are not official.

![Completing the SG Arrival Card on a phone](https://sifqa.com/wp-content/uploads/
2026/10/singapore-arrival-card-uae.webp)

## Transit through Singapore

Some visa-required nationalities can transit without a visa for up to 96 hours under
ICA’s Visa-Free Transit Facility, if they hold certain visas (for example, a valid
visa for Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK, the US or a
Schengen country) and meet other conditions. Check eligibility with ICA before relying
on it.

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Going to the embassy in Abu Dhabi with documents. It will not accept them.
 * Paying an agent without knowing who actually submits your application.
 * Skipping the SG Arrival Card.
 * Booking non-refundable flights before the e-Visa arrives.

Ireland is a popular add-on to UK trips and a destination in its own right for UAE
residents visiting family, attending conferences or touring. But it causes confusion
for one reason: **Ireland is not part of Schengen**. A Schengen visa does not let
you in, and an Irish visa does not let you into Schengen. This guide explains who
needs an Irish visa, the one shortcut some passports can use, how to apply from
the UAE, what it costs, how long it really takes and what the latest approval figures
tell you.

**Checked on 16 October 2026** against the Embassy of Ireland in the UAE and Ireland’s
Immigration Service Delivery (ISD). Sources at the end.

## The short answer

| Question | Answer |
| Who decides UAE applications | Visa Office, Embassy of Ireland, Abu Dhabi |
| How you apply | Online form on AVATS, then documents and passport through VFS Global in the UAE |
| Fee | €60 single entry, €100 multiple entry (plus VFS service charge) |
| Processing target | 6–8 weeks for tourist and family visits; about 4 weeks for business |
| When to apply | Up to 90 days before travel |
| Overall approval rate (2025, all countries) | 82.5% |
| Refusal | Free appeal within 2 months |
| Shortcut | Some passports can visit Ireland on a UK visitor visa (see below) |

## Your passport decides, your residence changes the route

Your **passport** decides whether you need an Irish visa. Indian, Pakistani, Filipino,
Egyptian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Nigerian passport holders all need one. Emiratis
do not.

Your passport also decides whether you can use the **UK visa shortcut**, which is
only open to certain nationalities.

Your **UAE residence** decides where you apply. UAE residents apply in the UAE,
and the Embassy of Ireland in Abu Dhabi makes the decision. The Abu Dhabi office
also handles visa-required residents of Qatar since July 2024.

### The British-Irish Visa Scheme does not help you here

You may have read that Indian nationals can use one UK visa to visit both the UK
and Ireland under the British-Irish Visa Scheme (BIVS). That scheme is for applications
made in **India or China**. An Indian passport holder applying from Dubai cannot
get a BIVS visa here. The waiver programme below is the relevant option.

## The UK visa shortcut: Ireland’s short-stay visa waiver

Under Ireland’s **Short-stay Visa Waiver Programme**, holders of a valid UK short-
stay visitor visa from certain countries can visit Ireland without an Irish visa.
Eligible passports include:

 * **Asia:** India, Philippines, China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Uzbekistan,
   Vietnam
 * **Middle East:** Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia (with an extra condition)
 * **Europe:** Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia,
   Türkiye
 * **South America:** Colombia, Peru

**Not on the list:** Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nigeria. Holders
of those passports need a full Irish visa even if they hold a UK visa.

The conditions are strict:

 1. You must hold a UK **short-stay visit visa**. A UK ETA, transit visa, student visa
or other long-stay visa does not count.
 2. You must **enter the UK first** on that visa, before travelling to Ireland.
 3. Your stay in Ireland must end **before your UK permission ends**, and is limited
    to 90 days.
 4. It only works one way. An Irish visa does not let you into the UK.

**Example:** an Indian engineer in Dubai with a UK multiple-entry visitor visa flies
Dubai–London, spends a week in London, then takes a flight to Dublin. No Irish visa
is needed. If she flew Dubai–Dublin directly, she would need one.

## What the approval figures tell you

Ireland does not publish refusal rates per embassy, but figures released to RTÉ
News under Freedom of Information in February 2026 show how much your passport matters:

| Group (2025) | Decisions | Approval rate |
| All nationalities | about 195,000 | 82.5% |
| India | 72,137 | 92.4% |
| China | 16,511 | about 95% |
| South Africa | about 12,500 | 93.1% |
| Pakistan | 13,662 | under 53% |

Across 2024 and 2025 combined, more than 321,000 applications were granted and nearly
63,000 refused.

These are worldwide figures for each nationality, not UAE-only figures. But they
match what UAE applicants report: Indian applicants with stable jobs are usually
approved, while Pakistani applicants face roughly a one-in-two chance and need a
much stronger file.

### What Irish officers check

The same FOI release described the internal guidance officers follow. They look
at:

 * **Risk of overstaying**, and of travelling on to the UK without permission (breaching
   the Common Travel Area).
 * **Travel history** — previous UK, Schengen, US or Canadian visas used correctly
   help.
 * **Financial stability** — officers are told to request **six months of bank statements
   and payslips**.
 * **Red flags** — large cash deposits shortly before applying, tampered or replacement
   passports, and previous overstays.

## Documents for a visit visa

ISD publishes the official checklist for each visa type. For a tourist or family
visit from the UAE, expect:

 * Signed AVATS **application summary sheet**.
 * Current passport (valid at least six months after your planned departure from
   Ireland) and all previous passports.
 * Two recent colour passport photos.
 * UAE residence visa and Emirates ID.
 * **Signed letter of application**: who you are, why you are going, where you will
stay, who pays, and a commitment to leave Ireland on time and not to travel on
   to the UK without permission.
 * **Six months of bank statements**, stamped by your bank. See our [UAE bank statement guide](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/visa-documents-uae-bank-statement-for-visa/).
 * Employer letter with your position, salary, start date and approved leave. See
   our [NOC templates](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/uae-noc-letter-visa/).
 * Payslips for recent months.
 * Hotel booking, or for family visits an invitation letter with your host’s Irish
ID or residence card and proof of their address.
 * Travel and medical insurance.
 * Details of any previous visa refusals for any country. Declare them — hiding
a refusal is a serious problem.

**Tip:** Irish decisions are made on paper. Your letter of application is the only
place you explain your trip in your own words, so make it specific and consistent
with your documents. Our [cover letter templates](https://sifqa.com/visa-documents/schengen-cover-letter-uae/)
can be adapted.

## How to apply step by step

 1. Check you need a visa and that you cannot use the UK waiver.
 2. Complete the online form on **AVATS** (the Irish visa application system). Choose“
Visit” and the correct sub-type (tourist, family/friend, business, conference).
 3. Print and sign the application summary sheet.
 4. Prepare documents in English. Translations must be certified.
 5. Book an appointment with **VFS Global**‘s Ireland visa application centre in the
     UAE.
 6. Submit your summary, documents and passport. Pay the visa fee and VFS service
     charge.
 7. Your file goes to the Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
 8. Check the **weekly decision report**, published every Friday afternoon on the
Embassy website. Search it with your eight-digit application number.
 9. Collect your passport from VFS or receive it by courier.

## Processing time

The Embassy publishes these targets, counted in **working days from the date it
receives your file**:

| Purpose | Target |
| Tourist | 6–8 weeks |
| Visit family or friends | 6–8 weeks |
| Business or conference | about 4 weeks |

Transit between VFS and the Embassy adds 2 to 10 days each way. The Embassy does
not accept requests to speed up an application and does not answer status enquiries
except in serious emergencies. Apply up to **90 days** before travel, and do not
book non-refundable flights until your passport is back with the visa in it.

## Fees

| Item | Cost |
| Single-entry visa | €60 |
| Multiple-entry visa | €100 |
| VFS service charge | Set by VFS, paid in AED |

Some nationalities are exempt from the visa fee under Irish rules, and spouses of
EU citizens do not pay. The fee is not refunded if you are refused.

## If you are refused: the appeal

Ireland offers a **free appeal**, which most Schengen countries do not:

 * You have **two months** from the date of the refusal letter.
 * Write to the Visa Appeals Officer at the office that refused you, quoting your
   application number.
 * Answer **each refusal reason** directly and include new documents that address
   them.
 * There is no fee.

If your appeal fails, you can apply again. A fresh application should fix what went
wrong, not repeat the same file.

## Mistakes to avoid

 * Assuming a Schengen visa covers Ireland. It does not.
 * Flying Dubai–Dublin directly on the waiver. You must enter the UK first.
 * Using a UK ETA for the waiver. Only a UK visa counts.
 * Large unexplained deposits in the months before applying.
 * A letter of application that does not mention how you will return to the UAE.
 * Booking flights before the decision.

## Questions people ask

### Can I use my Schengen visa to visit Ireland?

No. Ireland is not in Schengen and needs its own visa or, for some passports, the
UK visa waiver.

### Can Indian residents of the UAE visit Ireland with a UK visa?

Yes, if it is a UK short-stay visitor visa and you enter the UK first. Your Ireland
stay must end before your UK permission ends.

### Can Pakistani residents of the UAE visit Ireland with a UK visa?

No. Pakistan is not on the waiver list, so a full Irish visa is needed.

### How long does an Irish visa take from the UAE?

The Embassy targets 6–8 weeks for tourist and family visits, plus transit time between
VFS and Abu Dhabi.

### How do I check my Irish visa decision?

The Embassy in Abu Dhabi publishes a decision report every Friday. Search it for
your eight-digit application number.

### Can I appeal an Irish visa refusal?

Yes, free of charge, within two months of the refusal letter.
