Most UAE residents need a visa for Turkey, and there are two routes: the online e-Visa or a sticker visa from the Turkish consulate. Which one is open to you depends on your passport and on whether you hold a visa or residence permit from the Schengen Area, the USA, the UK or Ireland. A UAE residence visa does not qualify you, whatever some websites say.

Does your UAE residence visa help?
Not in the way most websites suggest, and this is the single biggest source of confusion on this topic.
Your UAE residence visa does not exempt you from needing a Turkish visa. It also does not, by itself, make you eligible for the e-Visa. We have seen several UAE visa agency pages state that holding a UAE residence visa makes you eligible to apply online. That does not match what Turkey publishes.
What your UAE residence does affect is where you apply if you need a sticker visa: you can apply at the Turkish mission in the UAE rather than travelling to your home country.
Turkey’s official e-Visa conditions
Turkish missions publish the criteria for the conditional e-Visa. An applicant from a country in this group must meet all of the following:
- Hold a valid visa or valid residence permit from one of the Schengen countries, the USA, the UK or Ireland
- Hold a return ticket, a hotel reservation, and at least USD 50 for each day of the stay
- Be travelling for tourism or business
- Enter Turkey through an airport. The e-Visa does not cover land border crossings
Read the first condition carefully. The qualifying document must come from the Schengen Area, the USA, the UK or Ireland. The UAE is not on that list, and neither is any other GCC country.
Electronic visas and e-residence permits are generally not accepted as the supporting document. If your US, UK or Schengen permission exists only as an electronic record rather than a sticker or card, check with the Turkish mission before you rely on it.
A note on dates
Some UAE websites present this condition as a change that arrived on 1 March 2026. Turkish missions were publishing the same criteria in January 2025 at the latest. Treat any site that dates this rule to 2026 with caution, and check the Turkish source.

If you qualify for the e-Visa, use it. It is faster and cheaper. The sticker visa exists for people the online route does not cover, and for purposes beyond tourism and short business trips.
The scam problem, and the only official website
Turkey’s e-Visa is one of the most heavily impersonated visa systems in the world. While researching this guide we found lookalike sites using domains built from words like “evisa”, “gov” and “official”, several of which closely imitate a government page. They charge many times the official fee for a form you can complete yourself, and some collect passport data.
The only official website is evisa.gov.tr. Nothing else is the Turkish government. If a site’s address ends in anything other than .gov.tr, it is a private company, no matter how official the page looks. Type the address yourself rather than clicking a search advertisement.
The same caution applies in the UAE. Agencies may legitimately charge you for handling the paperwork, but they cannot speed up a government decision or improve your chances, and you should know what the government fee is before you agree to pay anyone.
Applying for a sticker visa in the UAE
If the portal tells you that you are not eligible for the e-Visa, you apply for a sticker visa at a Turkish mission. There are two: the Consulate General of Türkiye in Dubai, and the Embassy of Türkiye in Abu Dhabi. Which one you use depends on the emirate that issued your residence visa.
Documents usually required
The mission publishes its own checklist and that is the one to follow. Applicants in the UAE are typically asked for:
- Passport, valid at least six months beyond your arrival date, with a blank page
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID
- A no objection certificate from your employer on company letterhead, stating your position, start date, salary and approved leave dates, and confirming you will return to the UAE. It must be wet-signed and stamped, and addressed to the specific mission
- Bank statements for the last three months, original and wet-stamped by the bank
- Salary certificate or payslips
- Return flight booking and hotel reservation
- Travel insurance
The wet stamp matters. Turkish missions in the UAE are known for rejecting bank statements printed from online banking. Go to a branch and have the statement stamped and signed by hand. The same applies to the employer letter: a scanned signature is not the same as an original.
If someone else sponsors your residence visa — a spouse, a family member — you will usually also need their no objection letter, passport copy, residence visa copy, and their bank and salary documents. Where the sponsor is abroad, the letter is normally notarised.
Mistakes that cause refusals
- Assuming your UAE residence makes you e-Visa eligible. It does not. The qualifying documents are Schengen, US, UK or Ireland.
- Planning to enter Turkey by land on an e-Visa. The e-Visa covers air entry only.
- Paying a lookalike website. Only evisa.gov.tr is official.
- Submitting an online-printed bank statement instead of a wet-stamped original.
- Applying with under six months of passport validity.
- Not being able to show USD 50 per day. A ten-day trip means showing around USD 500 available.
- Trusting a guide that dates the e-Visa conditions to 2026. Check the Turkish source.
Questions people ask
Can UAE residents get a Turkey visa on arrival?
No. Arrange your visa before you travel, either as an e-Visa online or as a sticker visa from the Turkish mission in the UAE. Airlines check before boarding.
Does a UAE residence visa qualify me for the Turkey e-Visa?
No. The supporting document must be a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK or Ireland. A UAE residence visa does not meet the condition, though some UAE websites incorrectly say it does.
Can Indians in Dubai apply for a Turkey e-Visa?
Only if they hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit, and meet Turkey’s other conditions. Without one of those documents, the route is a sticker visa from the Turkish Consulate General in Dubai or the Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
How much money do I need to show for Turkey?
Turkish missions state at least USD 50 for each day of your stay, alongside a return ticket and hotel reservation.
Which website is the real Turkey e-Visa site?
Only evisa.gov.tr. Any address not ending in .gov.tr is a private company charging a markup.
